Ayden Bergner and Matthew Walters (DT-284) complete their first quarter of training today, and are well on their way to becoming superstars. Both took the ALLDATA test yesterday and passed, earning their certificate and patch. “This is the 1st one of many,” says Walters. Bergner and Walters are finishing up their basic electrical module and heading into Diesel Engines when they return after summer break. Both are passionate and focused on their education and want to get the most out of their time here at OTC. “You can never know too much,” says Walters. Both students had time in the classroom to prepare for the online test and said passing it was somewhat challenging. “I’d say it was a 7 out of 10 in terms of difficulty,” says Bergner. “You really have to understand the question to know how to find the answer and a few of the answers required navigating multiple links.” The ALLDATA certification is free and open to all students who want to earn it. DT-284 is the newest diesel class and also has the most time to work on their Get Ahead certifications. The Get Ahead program partnership with OTC was announced in April and Bergner and Walters have already started work on earning their online manufacturer certifications for Detroit Diesel, Western Star and Freightliner. Both are looking at the next 15 months as a time for friendly competition in earning as many certs as possible as both hope to work for industry giant CAT after graduation.
