Ask a child what they want to be when they grow up and you’ll receive a variety of answers: firefighter, doctor, astronaut, teacher, superhero. But what about those of us who have struggled throughout our lives trying to find our calling: the career path that would be both satisfying and help us pay the bills? Not everyone knows instinctively what they want to do with their lives, but sometimes keeping an open mind about your career goals can have unexpected perks.
Finding your calling can be as simple as starting with a little bit of introspection. Take some time and think for a few minutes about what your strengths are, what your interests include, and determine if you’re more of a dreamer or a doer. These questions can help you start down your path to a rewarding career in a growing industry. For instance, are you good with your hands, or are you better at coming up with ideas? Maybe you can design future automobiles, or maybe the thought of drafting a design bores you to tears and you just want to take apart an engine to see how it works. On that note, do you like getting your hands dirty, or does grime under your nails make you grimace? Knowing your preferences can go a long way in helping you decide your future career.
Even if you have only the earliest inkling of what you want to do, you’ve come to the right place. You know deep down that you want to work with engines, but you haven’t yet solidified how you want to approach it. We here at Ohio Technical College offer many different career choices for our students, giving them a wide array of options to help them land their dream job – even if they didn’t know it beforehand that this was their goal all along! If you’re still questioning your future, but know you love anything and everything to do with the automotive industry, then we can help you start your future career today.
