Begin a new high powered career in Collision Repair and Refinishing Technology Our I-CAR-based Collision Repair and Refinishing program provides intense hands-on training. Enrollment in I-CAR can lead to I-CAR Platinum recognition in two areas with successful coursework and testing.

Graduate Success

Collision graduate Gavin Horton was recognized as an OTC Student of the Month. This successful young man’s outlook was one of many reasons he was a standout student. He completed his I-CAR Platinum Level l & ll certification. He received his ALLDATA certification and was surprised by how much collision information is contained in that software. He completed his I-CAR welding certification and took ASE's in Paint & Refinishing. His long-term goal was being ASE Collision Master Certified. As a student, Horton was all about taking advantage of all of his training options and available certifications. “Most of these are free or I get reimbursed at graduation, so why wouldn’t I do all I can to know as much as possible and be prepared for the demands of the industry?” Horton came to campus on Fridays helping out in the shop or working on special projects while also working part-time at a local parts store. Horton admits his 12 months at OTC were a time of maturity and growth. “I definitely learned how to be an adult. I have to pay bills on time, I have to manage my time efficiently and I have to follow thru on commitments.

"After finishing 1st in Skills USA I knew there was still more to learn. I came to OTC with the intent to get everything I could out of my training. I came in on Friday's. I helped out when I could and made sure I took the I-CAR Platinum certification tests."

Collision graduate Samantha Welch (CR-175) credits her grandfather for her love of cars and for her high school instructor for motivating her to continue her education. “My grandfather always encouraged me to do my best and enter competitions and my instructor saw the potential to develop talent.” Both influencers got her noticed and Welch was the only one in her graduating class recognized as a member of the National Society of High School Scholars. Students are nominated by a high school official based off of GPA, PSAT/ACT/SAT scores, or their overall rank in the graduating class. A big component of the NSHSS is students show leadership skills and offer their time to community service. While at OTC Welch qualified for membership in the National Technical Honor Society as she maintained 90% or higher on test scores and lab performance and had excellent attendance. At graduation she looked forward to refining her skills in the collision industry in painting or structural repair.

"Working next to classmates it was easy to see who was here to learn and who wasn't. I took my training seriously and made to to prepare myself for success after graduation."
