Ohio Technical College will celebrate a huge milestone on Thursday, June 26th as the 50th class of power generation graduates. OTC's generator training program began back in 1992 after OTC acquired generator equipment from out of state. It took about a year for the equipment to be re-assembled on campus, and the training program to be written and approved before the first students entered the program.
Over the past few years, the program's popularity has exploded with increased industry demand for trained power generator technicians. Many times there is a waiting list to get into the three month training program. In the case of classes 48 and 49, they were split into morning and afternoon classes to accommodate the large number of students who wanted the additional training.
In addition, OTC currently has over 30 companies who are willing to sponsor students that take the program in exchange for a career job opportunity upon graduation. The demand for diesel generator technicians is at incredible levels. 22 years of conducting elite power generator training has its advantages as we boast great industry alliances and partners.
Best of luck to our current and future generator graduates!
