Five Questions to Ask Yourself to Find a Career You Love

motorcycle repairFinding your dream job may seem challenging, but believe it or not, it’s easier than you think to find a career that you actually love and wake up looking forward to going to work. If you’re still on the fence and haven’t quite solidified your career path, then these five questions can help you find your perfect fit. 1) What do you love to do? First and foremost, to get a job that you love, you must love what you do! That may seem obvious, but many people sacrifice their passions just to earn a paycheck doing something. (Sounds a lot like prison) YES, you can have both! Do what you love, give it our all, and the income will follow. 2) What are you good at? Do you excel at fabricating a needed part, or are you better at squeezing the maximum performance from a motor? Do you have a knack for popping the hood and figuring out where that weird rattle is coming from, or do you have a special finesse for buffing out dings and scratches? To reduce your struggle and to really thrive, make sure you work in a sector that lets your natural talents shine. 3) What are your weaknesses and what do you hate to do? Knowing what you’re good at is only part of the equation. Sure, you can be a master at taking apart engines, but if you hate doing it, then it may not be the right career path for you. Keep these in mind when planning for your future to avoid getting stuck in a rut. 4) What are your values? Yes, your values also play a key role in choosing the right career! Knowing what motivates you to succeed can help you persevere when you feel like you’re struggling or are having doubts. Staying in tune with your dreams and objectives, even when you’re facing a challenge, can keep you strong and resolute. 5) What are your goals in life? This question can really help get to the heart of choosing a career that you love. If you see yourself settling down and forming roots in a community, then a job that requires a lot of travel may not be a good fit for you. If you’re wanting to own your own shop, then you might not be happy working under someone else. When choosing a career that you love, it’s best to know yourself completely. Really dig deep and ask yourself these questions to help you avoid doubt and confusion once you’re fully committed to your career path. Your future self will thank you!
