David Fairhurst started his OTC training as an Automotive student. He had the grades, attendance and attitude to continue into BMW STEP training. OTC STEP graduate David Fairhurst is now working at Kelly BMW in Columbus, OH and has been since his 2014 graduation from our BMW STEP training program. Shout out to his classmates in the class OH-22! Fairhurst is originally from Ashland, OH, so relocating to Columbus to work at Kelly was not an issue when it came time to commit to a job offer. Some of the attraction for students to continue into a specialized training program like STEP is that it is paid for by BMW.

Graduates have to be able to commit to working for a BMW dealership once training ends. There is no guarantee a specific location will have openings once their training ends. Finding the right place to start their career is crucial for both the graduate and the dealership. Dealerships make a large investment in obtaining STEP graduates and ideally want to grow that investment into a long-term employee. Fairhurst seems content working on both newer and older models. “People that don’t know the product assume I work on nothing but brand new vehicles. These cars are built to last. My job is to keep them performing as long as possible.”
