Automotive Instructor

Ohio Technical College is currently seeking a highly qualified instructor to teach in our Automotive program. Applicants should be highly knowledgeable in the automotive industry, be ASE certified, possess at least 5 years of industry experience and interested in developing tomorrow’s top technicians.  Prior teaching experience and shop management a plus, but we do offer ongoing in-house teacher training, and ready to use curriculum.  Candidates should possess solid communication skills and the ability to provide instruction in automotive  maintenance and repair.

Job Duties: The Automotive Instructor is responsible for the following duties, including:

  • Prepare for classroom instruction by applying strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time.
  • Provide students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
  • Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and professionally presented task demonstrations in the shop.
  • Maintain a professional and positive image for students.
  • Demonstrate competent knowledge of subject matter.
  • Assign and grade class work and homework and provide evaluative feedback to students.
  • Utilize computers, audiovisual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations and demonstrations.
  • Prepare reports on students and activities as required by administration.
  • Complete student records as required by laws, college policies and administrative regulations.
  • Assist in assessing curricular needs and offer plans for improvement.
  • Evaluate student performance against industry standards, IE. ASE Education Foundation, I-CAR, AWS, as applicable.
  • Enforce all college policies and rules governing students.
  • Select, store, order, issue, and inventory classroom equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Obtain and maintain all required professional certifications and credentials for the department and subjects taught.

Collision Repair Instructor

Required Skills: Applicants should be highly knowledgeable and versatile in the auto body, collision repair and refinishing industry as a fabricator or body shop technician, be ASE or I-CAR certified, possess at least 5 years of direct industry experience and interested in developing tomorrow’s top technicians. Prior teaching experience and shop management a plus, but we do offer ongoing in-house teacher training, and ready to use curriculum materials.  Candidates should possess solid communication skills and the ability to provide instruction in collision repair.

Job Duties: The Collision Repair Instructor is responsible for the following duties, including:

Diesel Instructor

Ohio Technical College is currently seeking a highly qualified instructor to teach in our Diesel program.  Applicants should be highly knowledgeable in the diesel or heavy equipment industry, be ASE certified, possess at least 5 years of industry experience and interested in developing tomorrow’s top technicians.  Prior teaching experience and shop management a plus, but we do offer ongoing in-house teacher training, and ready to use curriculum materials.  Candidates should possess solid communication skills and the ability to provide instruction in medium/heavy truck maintenance and repair. Hydraulics, welding and industrial equipment experience a plus.

Required Skills: Applicants should be highly knowledgeable and versatile in the classic car, hot rod or restoration industry as a fabricator or body shop technician.  ASE or I-CAR certified a plus. Possess at least 5 years of direct industry experience and interested in developing tomorrow’s top technicians. Prior teaching experience and shop management a plus, but we do offer ongoing in-house teacher training, and ready to use curriculum materials.   Candidates should possess solid communication skills and the ability to provide instruction in restoration of classic cars, modifications for technical updating, or hot rod creation.

Job Duties: The Rod & Custom Instructor is responsible for the following duties, including:

  • Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time.
