Representatives from Lincoln Electric were on OTC’s campus today recruiting students. With Lincoln Electric being a world-wide industry leader in welding equipment and training, you would think they would be at OTC talking to our welding students – not the case today.
Lincoln reps say 40% of their maintenance staff will retire in eight years or less, and if the machines don’t work that make the welders they sell, well no one makes any money.
OTC graduates heard about a great starting salary with ample overtime available and a company bonus sharing plan at the end of the year. Lincoln Electric’s bonuses are legendary, and last year’s was $106 million split among their 3,000 employees.
Seth Mason – Lincoln’s Maintenance Superintendent addressed the students with, “You didn’t chose to attend OTC to work in fast food. You have a specific set of skills that is very much in demand not only in our industry, but other industries. We are looking for the right candidates to fill current and future openings.” Lincoln reps will be back next week to talk to speak with upcoming graduating classes in Auto-Diesel.
